First Defence Taekwondo - Cornwall's Finest

Hi Mike

My son has dyspraxia and as such has issueds with confindence, concentration and fine motor skills in particular. We were advised by a knowledgable friend some two years ago that Tae-Kwon-Do would be a perfect sport to improve his ability. As happens with our busy lives, I kept forgetting to organise a taster session with First Defence. Luckily, a year later, my son's best friend invited him to a session and he has now been going for 10 months. We have noticed a great improvement in all aspects of his behaviour and it has been commented upon by his teachers. In ten months he has never moaned about going and has only missed any session due to our holiday committments. Having said that, he wanted to know if I could organise some TKD lessons in Egypt while we were there in August! In particular, his concentration is much better and he has a much more focussed approach to all areas of his life. TKD has also encouraged his proactivity, he has asked to start revising for possible grading in December - there was no nagging involved at all - simply a miracle!"

'Hello Mike,

My daughter , Emma, attends the Hayle club and loves it. It has done wonders for her confidence. David and Shelly are fantastic with the students and should be congratulated for all their hard work. Please use my comments on the site, I really mean them and can see the changes in the kids, you are all doing a very worthwhile job which is much appreciated by the other parents as well. Again many thanks for the work you all do. From Dr. Richard Pearn

Dear Mike,

Since joining First Defence my five year old daughter’s confidence has grown immensely. Her teachers have commented on how much better she is at expressing herself in front of her class mates. She has much more confidence in her own abilities and is enthusiastic about joining in team games.

I love watching my boys doing Taekwondo – it is great to see them working together, co-operating with each other and helping each other. They have a mutual respect for each other and it has taught them to respect others. Taekwondo compliments the other sports they do and I think it is especially good for their agility – I’m convinced it’s why they are so good at rugby!.

Dear Mike

I wanted to take the opportunity to thank you for all you have done for James over the years he has been a student of yours.
When he came to you he was a timid and clumsy child. Taekwondo certainly gave him personal confidence, poise, discipline and self esteem that I am sure has had a significant impact on his life so far and will certainly be of benefit for years to come.

All the best to you in First Defence.
Best Regards
